I love peas! Mmmmmm...

I didn't know how many people were reading Kane's blog (i.e. looking at pictures on Kane's blog because Mom doesn't write much) unit I went too long without posting. Suddenly I became the target of a lot of frustration over no new Kane pics! So, without further adieu, here you go!

We've been a busy family the past couple of months. We celebrated Kane's first Christmas, took two trips to Chicago, weathered the first big snow storm of the season, hosted a Costa Rican Exchange teacher for three weeks, got sick, got better, got sick again, got better again...you get the picture.

On a controversial note, we are in the market for a minivan. :) Minivans are not evil, as I once believed. They are more spacious and get better gas mileage than your average SUV or Crossover. I think, after giving it a lot of thought, that buying a minivan is simply acknowledging that a portion of your life is over, and a new chapter has begun. We're ready for that change, now. If my past self would have anything to say about it, though, it would be very disappointed.

Kane is wonderful-he is six months old now-holding his own bottle, eating some solid foods, sitting up on his own, laughing all the time, eating his toes, picking up anything and everything-and getting ready to crawl. He gets so frustrated when he can't get where he wants to go. He is a nosy, little busy-body! As I type he is ignoring the multitude of toys in front of him to try and press keys on the laptop.
I promise I'll try to update more soon! We wish everyone well!

Kane's First Christmas Part I

Kane has some fun new outfits that are so cute they are sure to spread Christmas cheer! He has had some big days over the past couple of weeks. Not only did he meet Santa for the first time, but he also had sooo much fun with his new girlfriend Maddie. She gave him lots of kisses. :) Mom and Dad also enjoyed their visit with Joyce and Bryan! Our time together is so much different now that we have children, but just as rewarding.

Kane is starting to be very interested in his surroundings. He is looking around and soaking things in. He especially loves staring at the pretty lights on our Christmas Tree and his favorite book, "Words." It's a real page turner.

Kane's New Favorite Things

Kane is getting even bigger-he weighs 14 1/2 pounds now! He's also growing-already in 6 mos. clothes. His face is filling out and getting even cuter. He is also showing more of his personality. He loves smiling and laughing and being tickled! He also loves his monkey, sitting at his high chair with the big kids, and sucking his thumb!

Last Wednesday he started rolling over-and over-and over. He's a little roly-poly on his play mat. He also loves talking (in what language, we're not sure), looking around-and hates when he can't see what's going on.

The first three months with our new little guy were wonderful, but often tiring. Now we are really having a lot of fun getting to know Baby Kane.

Happy Halloween!

Kane had a fun-filled first Halloween. Mommy was off work so we had Mommy and Baby day of fun. This included napping and having lunch with Daddy. Halloween night we went to Aunt MJ's for a family party. Kane's costume was a hit! He was a dinosaur-or is it a dragon? We can't tell-either way, he was too cute!

Go Tigers!

Kane was very bummed about Mizzou's loss to Texas Saturday but he looked stylin in his future college's baby gear! Plus it is a lucky sleep outfit-he slept through the night for the second time in that Tiger gear.

Kane also got to meet his Uncle Mike for the first time on Saturday. Slowly but surely he's meeting all of his family members!

Kane is Huge

Well, our "average" sized son is now in the 97th percentile in weight. He now weighs 13 pounds and he's quickly becoming a chunk! He definitely eats enough, but he still always seems to be hungry-especially at night. Mom is starting back to work and Aunt Amanda has had fun with baby while she is gone. We are so lucky to have family watch our child-I can't imagine taking him to someone I barely know. It has made going back so much easier. Thanks Aunt Amanda! Here are some recent pictures of our growing boy!
